Admirals Get by Flames 4-2

Milwaukee, WI --The Milwaukee Admirals got goals from four different players as they went on to a 4-2 win over the Quad City Flames Friday night at the Bradley Center in front of a season-high 6,160 fans. The victory was the seventh straight for Milwaukee at the Bradley Center.

The games first goal came at 15:56 of the opening period when the Admirals defense was unsuccessful in getting the puck out of the zone. During an attempt at a cross ice pass to advance past the puck, Quad City leftwinger Kyle Greentree intercepted the pass and skated in by himself and went five-hole to beat Ads netminder Drew MacIntyre.

Just fourteen seconds later Milwaukee responded with a goal of their own to tie the score. With the puck deep in the offensive zone Andreas Thuresson dropped a pass to Jed Ortmeyer who blasted a slapshot from the point. In front of the net stood tough-guy Triston Grant to tip it right past the Flames goaltender Matt Keetley.

The second period saw no score, but it did see plenty of action. Between the two teams there were sixteen penalty minutes, both teams receiving eight. From hooks to trips, neither team spent much time skating at full strength.

At 4:43 of the third period is when the Admirals finally took control of the game. With two Flames in the box the Admirals went on a five-on-three power-play. Cody Franson dashed the puck over to Alexander Sulzer on the point who blasted it past a screened Keetley. It was Sulzer's sixth goal of the season, and Cal O'Reilly received an assist on the play for his 33rd point of the season, putting him first in points on the squad.

The Flames were inches away from tying it up just a couple of minutes later when Quad City forward Jamie Lundmark bolted into the offensive zone, split two defensemen, and thought he had MacIntyre fooled. However, the Ads netminder threw out a kick save to stone Lundmark and preserve the Admirals lead.

At 14:44 of the third period the Ads thought they sealed the deal for good with a two goal lead. Admirals' newcomer Patric Hornqvist took it down the right wing zone without any resistance and dropped it back to defenseman Tim Ramholt who ripped a shot that went just wide. The puck bounced right back in front of the net to rookie Nick Spaling who tapped it home for his eighth goal of the season.

However, a mere twenty seconds later the flames once again were within one goal. Leftwing Kyle Greentree o made it look like he was going to do a backhand wrap-around, but instead dished it behind him to right-winger Kris Chucko who sent a rocket past MacIntyre. Defenseman Matt Pelech also recorded an assist on the pretty set up.

With an empty net and an extra skater, the Flames were still unable to come back come up with the game-tying goal. With only 9.5 seconds left defenseman Mark Matheson finally iced the game for Milwaukee when he fired a shot from the blue line into the naked Quad City goal for his first tally of the season.

Drew MacIntyre posted 17 saves to earn his 13th win of the season, while eleven different skaters for the Admirals found the scoresheet, including four different goal scorers, to lead a balanced offense.
