Rockford IceHogs News Release

Rockford, Ill.- A four-day break in the hockey world is like an eternity during the season. The Rockford IceHogs four-day Christmas break is over and the American Hockey League club returns to the ice tonight to face-off against the Chicago Wolves at 7:30 p.m. at the Rockford MetroCentre.

Prior to the holiday break, the IceHogs dropped a 4-1 decision to the Wolves at the Allstate Arena on Sunday. Rockford is stuck in a three-game winless slump (0-2-0-1) and have fallen into sixth place in the West Division, but are just five points behind the Wolves.

Despite a 5-5-0-0 record over their last 10 games, Chicago has been able to hang onto the top spot in the Division, just once point ahead of Milwaukee and Peoria. Tonight's game is the fifth of 10 on the season between the IceHogs and Wolves and Rockford is 2-2-0-0. The game marks just the second, however, at the MetroCentre.

Tonight one lucky fan will be voted as having the ugliest holiday sweater. Every fan 18 and older that shows up in a holiday sweater tonight will be eligible to win a pair of airline tickets to Tampa, Fla. and a pair of tickets to the Chicago Blackhawks-Tampa Bay Lightning game on Feb. 17 at the St. Petes Times Forum in Tampa.

Rockford, Ill.- Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliates Mark Bernard has announced that the Chicago Blackhawks (NHL) have reassigned Right Wing Dan Bertram and Goalie Joe Fallon from the Fresno Falcons (ECHL) to the Rockford IceHogs.

In five games with the now-defunct Falcons, Bertram had a goal and three assists. The Calgary, Alberta, native started the season with the IceHogs, notching a goal and an assist in 18 games. He also had 32 penalty minutes.

Fallon appeared in 13 games with the Falcons, leading them with a 8-4-0 record, 2.57 goals against average and .911 save percentage. The Bemidji, Minn., native made his American Hockey League debut in relief of Antti Niemi on Dec. 13, 2008 in Chicago, allowing one goal in 36 minutes.

Next Home Game: Friday, Dec. 26, 2008 vs. Chicago Wolves. The IceHogs and Wolves match-up in a post-Christmas showdown at the Rockford MetroCentre. Come dressed in your ugliest Christmas sweater and you could walk away with round trip airline tickets courtesy of Allegiant Airlines to Tampa, Fla. and a pair of tickets to see the Chicago Blackhawks play the Tampa Bay Lightning on Feb. 17 in Tampa.
