WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins are partnering with the Luzerne County Sheriff's office to collect unused cell phones during the team's home games on December 27 vs. Bridgeport, December 28 vs. Binghamton and December 30 vs. Philadelphia. All donated cell phones will be redistributed to victims of domestic violence and senior citizens in need.

"I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the Penguins," said Sheriff Savokinas. "They have a proven track record of giving back to the community and making Northeastern Pennsylvania a better place to live, and this event is just another example of that commitment," he added.

The Luzerne County Sherriff's Department first teamed with the 911 Cell Phone Bank in October to collect unused cell phones as part of National Crime Prevention Month, when government agencies, civic groups, schools and businesses reach out to educate the public by promoting awareness of issues such as victimization, volunteerism and creating safer communities.

Fans can drop off unused cell phones at the fan assistance booth on the Wachovia Arena concourse.
