Admirals Defeat Wolves 4-2

Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI--The Milwaukee Admirals defeated the Chicago Wolves 4-2 Friday night at the Bradley Center in the final match of this season's Amtrak Rivalry. Gabriel Bourque's eighth multiple point night of the season paired with an outstanding performance between the pipes by Milwaukee netminder Jeremy Smith led Milwaukee to victory to keep their first place rank in the tightly packed West Division.
The Admirals got on board first at 9:42 of the first period on Grant Lewis' sixth goal of the year. Scott Ford fired a one-timer to the net which was deflected by Chicago goaltender Edward Pasquale and picked up by Lewis who then put the puck past Pasquale to give the Admirals a 1-0 lead. Bourque also picked up an assist on the tally.
However, Chicago center Ryan Garbutt answered back a minute later knotting the game at one. Darren Haydar and Jaime Siefers picked up the helpers.
At 12:34 of the first Dylan Hunter put the Admirals back in the lead. Ryan Flynn passed the puck up the boards to Mike Bartlett who flipped the puck across the ice to Hunter who was positioned at the left circle. Hunter lifted the puck past Pasquale's glove-side, giving him his second goal of the season.
Kelsey Wilson scored the game-winning goal at 8:25 of the second period off a nifty pass by Mark Van Guilder. Van Guilder blocked a shot and carried the puck to the Chicago line where he found Wilson at the top of the left circle. Wilson beat Pasquale stick-side to give the Admirals a 3-1 lead going into the third period.
At 9:02 of the third period Bourque scored the final goal for Milwaukee. Ryan Thang chipped the puck to Bourque who was able to get behind of the Chicago defense. Bourque kicked the puck with his right skate to the forehand, swooped to the left post, and tucked the puck in the net. Chris Mueller also notched an assist on the goal giving him points in five straight games.
Chicago then put Peter Mannino in for Pasquale.
Spencer Machacek scored off a one-timer at 11:40 of the third period to decrease Chicago's deficit. Michael Davies faked a slapshot, passed the puck across the slot to Machacek, who then got behind Smith and found the back of the net.
Smith held off Chicago for the duration of the third period to earn the win and boost his record to 13-6-2.
In spite of the Admirals win today, it was the Wolves who captured the second Amtrak Cup. Chicago finished the ten-game season series with a 6-3-0-1 record against Milwaukee, good for 13 points, while the Ads collected ten points (4-4-1-1) against the Wolves. Spencer Machacek was named the Amtrak MVP, as he finished the Rivalry with nine points on two goals and seven assists to lead all scorers among both teams.
The Admirals are back in action on Saturday night when they head to Rockford for a 7:05 pm game, before returning to the Bradley Center on Sunday afternoon at 5:00 pm against San Antonio.
