Devils Stall In Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - After falling to the Albany Devils, 4-1 and 6-1, twice last week, the Syracuse Crunch rebounded for a 6-2 victory against their Capital Region foe Friday at the War Memorial at OnCenter. The Crunch began the game with four unanswered goals before Brad Mills netted the Devils' first marker. Rob Davison scored later in the game.

The loss moves the Devils to 30-36-1-4, while the Crunch improve to 28-36-3-4.

Mills' goal came at 17:04 of the second period on a rebound attempt. The goal was his 11th of the season, giving him three points (2g-1a) in the last six games. Steve Zalewski and Harry Young helped on the play.

Davison concluded the game's scoring at 15:10 of the third period with assists going to Alexander Vasyunov and Zalewski. The tally was Davison's fourth of the season, while Vasyunov earned his fifth point (1g-4a) in seven games. Zalewski increased his season point total to 39 (13g-26a). It was his sixth multi-point game since joining the Devils at the beginning of February.

Mike McKenna and Jeff Frazee both saw action in goal. McKenna made the start and logged approximately 50 minutes, stopping 21 shots. Frazee made his first appearance since Mar. 6; he had three saves.

Syracuse was led by Nick Bonino, who had a goal and two assists. He scored the game's first goal at 13:10 and assisted on the third goal at 7:14 of the first. He later chipped in an assist at 11:53 of the third to make it 6-1. Patrick Maroon and John Mitchell also enjoyed multi-point outings. Both players had a goal and an assist.

Jean-Philippe Levasseur earned the win making 36 saves on 38 shots.

The Devils power-play stalled on three opportunities, while the Crunch went 2-for-5.
