November 3, 2003 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Cleveland Barons News Release

CLEVELAND - Celebrity journalist, critically acclaimed author and former pro hockey player Ken Baker will visit Cleveland on Nov. 7 to promote his new memoir, They Don't Play Hockey In Heaven: A Dream, a Team and My Comeback Season. Baker, the West Coast Executive Editor of Us Weekly and a Hollywood commentator on E! and Extra, will be signing books during that night's Cleveland Barons game and will be available for media interviews.

Baker has appeared as a featured guest on The Howard Stern Show, The Oprah Winfrey Show and Dateline. Publishers Weekly calls They Don't Play Hockey In Heaven "equal parts George Plimpton-gonzo and Rocky Balboa-triumphalism." Lars Anderson of Sports Illustrated wrote, "You won't be able to put it down." The book is also endorsed by the producer of the movie Slap Shot, who calls it "touching, funny and irresistable."

Baker, a native of Buffalo who played alongside NHL all-stars like Jeremy Roenick and Mike Modano, was forced to retire in the early 1990s due to a brain tumor. He came out of retirement in 2001 and played for three minor-league hockey teams.

Possible interview topics with Baker include:

* Pro Hockey Talk. As a former player and respected sports writer, Baker is among the most informed commentators on the world of hockey.

* Hollywood News and Gossip. The LA-based Baker is a veteran celebrity journalist and Hollywood insider who can offer the latest, most interesting information on stars.

* Inspiring Human Interest. Baker's message: follow your dreams. His tale of coming back against the odds is being hailed as an inspiring story of hope and determination.
