LAS VEGAS: The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, will return to Cashman Field to open an eight-game home stand on Thursday, April 26, against the Tacoma Rainiers, Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, at 7:11 p.m. The 51s second home stand of the '07 season will run through Thursday, May 3.
The 51s, under first-year manager Lorenzo Bundy, are concluding a brief road trip today at Sacramento. Las Vegas has a record of 10-7 and trail first place Sacramento, 12-6, by 1.5 games in the Pacific Southern Division. Las Vegas will begin a stretch of 16 out of its next 20 games at Cashman Field from April 26 - May 15.
The series opener on Thursday will feature Budweiser Dollar Beer Night. Every Thursday home game throughout the season will feature Dollar Beer Night. A spectacular post-game fireworks show will be presented on Friday, April 27. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:11 p.m.
Game three of the series on Saturday, April 28 at 7:11 p.m. will feature L.A. Dodger Cap Night. The first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a Dodger Cap. The finale of the series will feature a matinee contest on Sunday, April 29 at 12:05 p.m. Little League Baseball Player Autograph Day will be presented prior to the contest.
The Rainiers possess six of the top 10 prospects, according to Baseball America, in the Mariners' minor league system. Outfielder Adam Jones is rated as the No. 1 prospect; catcher Jeff Clement is rated as the No. 2 prospect; left-handed pitcher Ryan Feierabend (No. 5); outfielder Wladimir Balentien (No. 6); infielder Yung Chi Chen (No. 9) and left-handed pitcher Eric O'Flaherty (No. 10).
Las Vegas then will open a four-game series against division rival Sacramento from Monday-Thursday, April 30 - May 3, all games at 7:11 p.m. The River Cats are the Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A's.
The finale of the home stand on Thursday, May 3 will feature Budweiser Dollar Beer Night.
The River Cats have four players on their roster that are ranked in Baseball America's Top-10 prospect list for the A's: Infielder Daric Barton (rated as the second-best prospect); catcher Kurt Suzuki (No. 3); right-handed pitcher Jason Windsor (No. 7) and right-handed pitcher Marcus McBeth (No. 8).
Tickets for all 51s home games can be purchased at the Cashman Field box office. The box office is open Monday-Friday from Noon to 4:30 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased through TicketMaster (474-4000, www.ticketmaster.com). TicketMaster outlets are located at selected Smith's Food & Drug, Ritmo Latino and Macy's, located at The Fashion Show & The Galleria Mall.
The individual game tickets for the 72-game home season are priced at $8.00 (general admission), $9.00 (reserved), $11.00 (plaza) and $13 (field). The traditional $2.00 discount for Military personnel is offered on plaza, reserved and G.A. seats throughout the season except for the holiday fireworks shows on June 30 & July 3.
