Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK - Searching for a way to avoid its sixth straight loss, the Round Rock Express poured a six-run sixth inning on Oklahoma and piled up 16 hits to nab a 14-7 win Tuesday at The Dell Diamond.

With the win, Round Rock moved to 10-10 on the season and avoided tying its worst losing streak since 2005, the same year the team made the leap from Double- to Triple-A.

Beneath threatening skies, five Express players had multi-hit games, including mark Saccomanno who went 4-for-5 with a double, three RBI and four runs. Hunter Pence cranked out three triples and Philip Barzilla allowed two earned runs over six innings for his third victory.

The Express snapped out of a 2-2 tie in the third inning. Pence led off with his seventh double fo the season against Alfred Simon and scored one-out later on Klassen's single to left.

Simon, who scattered seven hits, three walks and three strikeouts, left for the sixth, bringing on right-hander Mike Bumstead. With one on and one away, Saccomanno singled to short to put runners on the corners for Jesse Garcia, who cranked out his second double in as many nights to put Round Rock ahead 5-2.

Josh Anderson followed up with a single to left and Brooks Conrad pushed Garcia across with a single to right. Pence then cranked out his eighth double, moving the score to 8-2 before Munson lifted a lazy double to shallow left field that put the Express up by seven.

Left-hander Scott Sauerbeck, 35, made his first appearance for the Express since being activated over the weekend and allowed two runs on four hits, but Round Rock earned those back in the bottom of the frame.

Saccomanno hammered a one-out single against reliever Franklyn German, who worked one more out before walking Josh Anderson and Conrad to load the bases. Pence then worked the third walk of the inning to push Saccomanno across. Anderson moved the score to 11-5 on a passed ball.

Round Rock pushed its lead to nine with three runs on two hits and an error in the eighth and reliever Miguel Asencio allowed two runs in the ninth before fanning Marlon Byrd to end the game.

The Express has Wednesday off before welcoming the Albuquerque Isotopes at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday. That game can be heard on 1260 AM, 1530 AM or by logging on to www.rrexpress.com.
