London Rippers News Release

LONDON, ONTARIO - The London Rippers (21-33) enjoyed their highest offensive output of the 2nd half, unloading on Southern Illinois (32-22) in an 8-4 victory, snapping a four game losing streak.

The Rippers got started early. Joash Brodin hit his first home run in a month in the 1st, his 8th of the year, launching London to a 1-0 lead.

After the Miners tied the game at 1-1, Matt Wright put the Rippers back on top with a 2- RBI single, scoring Ben Magsig and Jim Vahalik, making it 3-1 London.

Mark Samuelson hit a liner to second that brought in two more.

Brad Agustin followed with an RBI single, increasing the lead to 6-1 London and ending the night for Southern Illinois starter, Shawn Gilblair (6-3).

That was plenty for London starter, Brandon Sinnery (3-1) who dealt 7.1 strong innings, allowing four runs on six hits, walking three and striking out three.

Vahalik kept up London's hot streak in the 5th with his first professional home run, adding on to the lead at 7-1.

Newest Ripper, Tyler Hall checked off a couple milestones with his first hit and RBI in the 7th, driving home Aaron Glaum with a single.

Southern Illinois did tighten it to 8-4 with a solo home run to Alvaro Ramirez and a two- run shot to Chad Maddox in the 8th inning, which knocked Sinnery out of the game.

The Rippers embark on a six game road trip tomorrow, heading to Normal, Illinois to face the Cornbelters. Matt Schimpf (2-5 5.40) pitches for London.
