Washington Wins Both Games of Doubleheader against Evansville

(WASHINGTON, PENNSYLVANIA) - b0 The Washington Wild Things swept the Evansville Otters in a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon at Consol Energy Park.

Washington won the first contest 12-1 in the continuation of a suspended game from last night and also won the second game by a score of 4-1.

The teams were stopped in the bottom of the seventh inning on Tuesday evening due to a power outage. When play continued on Wednesday, Washington scored six runs on their way to a victory.

The Wild Things also jumped out to a four run advantage in the final game of the doubleheader. Evansville rallied back with a double from infielder Steve Marino in the fourth and brought the tying run to the plate in the sixth and seventh innings. Washington stopped both opportunities to hold on for the three-run win.

Washington improves to 21-32 as Evansville currently stands at 23-31.

The Evansville Otters will now travel to Ohio as the team begins a three-game series at the Lake Erie Crushers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. EDT as right-hander Wynn Pelzer (0-1, 1.80 Earned Run Average) will start for the Otters and lefty Paul Fagan (5-3,2.73 ERA) will be on the hill for the Crushers.
