CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa â The Kernels have finalized the times for home games in their first-round Midwest League playoff series.
The Kernels' playoff foe has yet to be determined, although with five games remaining in the regular season it is looking more and more like Clinton. The LumberKings hold a three-game lead over Beloit, Peoria and Quad Cities for the playoff spot that will play the Kernels.
The Kernels will play their first playoff game on the road on Wednesday, April 8. The Kernels host Game 2 on Thursday, Sept. 9, at 6:30 p.m. If Game 3 is necessary, the Kernels will host that game at noon on Friday, Sept. 10.
Ticket prices for playoff games are the same as Kernels regular-season games:
Premier (first eight rows of seating bowl) $8
Club (rows nine through 20 of seating bowl) $7
Papa John's Plaza (first base bleachers) $6
Lawn (third base, general admission) $5
The Kernels could host as many as six playoff games. The playoff schedule is as follows:
Sept. 8 -- Game 1, first round, AWAY, TBA
Sept. 9 -- Game 2, first round, HOME, 6:30 p.m.
Sept. 10 -- Game 3, first round (if necessary), HOME, noon
*Sept. 11 -- Game 1, second round, TBA, TBA
*Sept. 12 -- Game 2, second round, TBA, TBA
*Sept. 13 -- Game 3, second round (if necessary), TBA, TBA
Sept. 14 -- Game 1, championship series, HOME, 6:30 p.m.
Sept. 15 -- Game 2, championship series, HOME, 6:30p.m.
Sept. 16 -- Game 3, championship series, AWAY, TBA
Sept. 17 -- Game 4, championship series (if necessary), AWAY, TBA
Sept. 18 -- Game 5, championship series (if necessary), AWAY, TBA
* -- in the second round, the Kernels will host either Game 1 or Games 2 and 3.
Tickets are available at the Veterans Memorial Stadium ticket office from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, by phone (896-7560) or online at www.kernels.com.
