September 28, 2016 - Washington, PA- The Washington Wild Things announced that former pitcher Chris Smith has been called up to the Major League roster of the Toronto Blue Jays. The Kentucky native paved an interesting path to his professional career, playing collegiately as a two-way star at Kentucky Wesleyan. Following graduation, Smith dedicated his efforts to pitching full-time and began his journey in the Frontier League. September 23, 2016 - The River City Rascals finished out the 2016 season one win short of their second Frontier League Championship with a 1-0 loss in game five of the Championship Series against the Evansville Otters this past Monday night. Under manager Steve Brook, the Rascals have been one of the final two teams remaining three years in a row and five of the past seven. Otters Win Thriller, Clinch Frontier League Championship

September 20, 2016 - EVANSVILLE, IN - The Evansville Otters used pitching and defense to win Game Five, 1-0, clinching their second Frontier League Championship in team history on Monday night. Hunter Ackerman got the start for Evansville, and he was superb. Ackerman carried a no-hit bid into the seventh inning, but gave up a triple to Kyle Gaedele with one out in the inning.
