Indy Fuel News Release

READING, PA - In the seventh of eight head-to-head meetings between the two teams this season, the Indy Fuel defeated the Reading Royals on Friday at Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania by a final score of 3-2. With the victory, the Fuel improved to 31-30-4-6 overall this season and with 72 points, remain locked in a fourth-place tie with the Wheeling Nailers and Cincinnati Cyclones in the ECHL's North Division standings with one game remaining in the Fuel's regular-season schedule.

In a fast-paced first period, the Royals grabbed a 1-0 lead on Friday thanks to a Sean Wiles goal less than three minutes into the opening frame. In the second, the Fuel stormed out of the gates with back-to-back Kyle Stroh scores, from Garett Bembridge at even-strength at 3:24 and Justin Holl and Nick Jones on the power-play at 9:06, to stake Indy to a 2-1 lead through 40 minutes of play.

In the third, Reading tied the game at two apiece at 10:22 when Kevin Walrod netted a left-circle wrist shot, but with time dwindling in regulation, rookie Fuel forward Peter Schneider muscled home the game-winning score at 17:16 with Chris DeSousa and Evan Vossen collecting assists on the play.

Indy net-minder Mac Carruth earned the win in net thanks to a 28-save performance while Martin Ouellette took the loss for Reading despite 26 stops. Friday's win was the Fuel's first against the Royals in the second-to-last meeting between the two clubs this season.
