Brampton's Wild Receives 2014-15 ECHL Community Service Award
April 10, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL) News Release
PRINCETON, N.J. - Brampton's Cal Wild has been selected as the recipient of the 2014-15 ECHL Community Service Award.
Each ECHL team was given the opportunity to nominate a player for their efforts in community and charitable causes during the 2014-15 season. The nominations were voted on by League Office personnel.
For the second straight season, Wild was an active participant in the Brampton community, supporting a number of local initiatives with his time, money and passion in helping to make a real difference in the lives of children and families.
Wild's "Cal's Pals Foundation" partnered with a different local foundation each month in order to promote awareness and raise funds for specific causes in the surrounding community.
In addition to a personal donation for every goal and assist he scored throughout the season, Wild also was actively involved in garnering support for fans, local businesses and teammates to join his pledge. He personally raised over $3,200 this season which has gone to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Children's Wish Foundation, Peel Regional Schools, Literacy Month Initiative and the Wellspring Chinguacousy Cancer Support Centre.
Wild has also personally purchased Beast tickets to donate to underprivileged children to allow them to attend their first professional hockey game.
