April 10, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release
TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Oilers of the ECHL agreed to terms Friday with rookie goaltender Andy Iles. In other Oilers' transactions on Friday, defenseman Steven Hoshaw was released and goalie Brandon Anderson was recalled to Hershey (AHL).
Iles (AISLES) started his first full pro season with the Alaska Aces before moving on to the Florida Everblades. In 23 appearances in an Everblades' uniform, Iles posted a 15-6-2 record with a 2.98 goals against average and a .896 save percentage.
Prior to turning pro, Iles, 23, completed a decorated college career at Cornell University. Competing for the Big Red in his hometown of Ithaca, New York, Iles completed a four-year run with a record of 58-42-17, a goals against average of 2.26, and a save percentage of .917. He holds the all-time record for career saves at Cornell and was named the Ivy League Player of the Year after his senior season of 2013-14. Iles ranks in the top 10 in Cornell history in wins, shutouts, goals against average, and save percentage.
"It's great to have Andy on board as we head into the playoffs," remarked Oilers Head Coach, Bruce Ramsay. "What he was able to accomplish at the highest level of college hockey is incredibly impressive and I believe he has an extremely bright future in the pro game. He is a smart, talented goalie and we're all looking forward to seeing him in our net."
Iles was a member of the United States Under-18 National Team that captured the gold medal at the IIHF U18 World Championship in Belarus in 2010. In competition in the USHL with the U.S. National Development Team, Iles went 20-6-1 and registered three shutouts. Iles was named U.S. Hockey Report's Goalie of the Year while attending The Salisbury School in 2008-09 and as a freshman, he backstopped Ithaca High School to the 2007 New York State Championship.
The Oilers have clinched a spot in the 2015 Kelly Cup Playoffs and will finish off the regular season with a contest against Wichita tonight and a game against Quad City on Saturday.
Playoff tickets can be purchased for as low as $18 by calling 918-632-7825.
