Evansville IceMen News Release
GREENVILLE, SC.- The Evansville IceMen, presented by Coors Light, held a one-goal lead after 20 minutes of play against the Greenville Road Warriors. However, Greenville responded with four straight goals over the final 40 minutes to secure a 5-2 win in the IceMen's penultimate game of the season.
Less than three minutes into the game, Greenville jumped out to a one-goal lead. Bretton Cameron scored from the high slot to put the Road Warriors up 1-0.
Just 25 seconds later, the IceMen answered. Robin Soudek fired a shot that Phil Bushbacher deflected into the net to tie the game at one. Mark Anthoine earned the second helper on Bushbacher's third of the year and second against the Road Warriors.
Later in the first, the IceMen found themselves on a 5-on-3 power play and made Greenville pay. Daniel Johnston rocketed a blast from the blue line that beat Jason Missiaen to give the IceMen a 2-1 lead after one. Justin MacDonald and Luke Greiner picked up points on Johnston's fourth of the season.
The second period belonged to Greenville. Cameron and Michael St. Croix lit the lamp to give the Road Warriors a 3-2 lead heading into the final frame.
Greenville continued to build momentum in the third. The Road Warriors added to their lead with goals from Chris McCarthy and Dallas Jackson.
Missiaen shut the door on the IceMen for the final two periods of the game. He made 26 saves on 28 IceMen shots to secure a 5-2 win for the Road Warriors. Alex Vazzano made 33 saves for Evansville.
The IceMen will play their final game of the 2014-15 season on Saturday night when they visit the South Carolina Stingrays. Evansville's season finale begins at 6:05 p.m. central time.
