Marlies Fall to Penguins in Front of Sold out Ricoh Coliseum

The Toronto Marlies were defeated by the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, AHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, by a score of 3-1 in front a sold out Ricoh Coliseum.

After a scoreless first period, Riley Holzapfel opened the scoring on his 13th goal of the season at 11:21 of the middle frame. Trailing by one heading into the third period, Tim Connolly registered his third goal in as many games on a powerplay at 7:03. Paul Thompson scored what would be the eventual game winning goal with just over 10 minutes remaining in the game. Adam Payerl added an insurance marker to secure the victory for the Penguins.

Toronto returns to the ice on Friday night when they travel to New York to take on the Rochester Americans, AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. The Marlies return home on Saturday, February 2 when they host the Hamilton Bulldogs, AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens, at 3 p.m. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling the team's ticket line at 416-597-PUCK (7825).
