Fans Vote Audy-Marchessault, Erixon As All-Star Starters

Springfield, Mass. - The American Hockey League announced on Saturday that Springfield Falcons forward Jonathan Audy-Marchessault and defenseman Tim Erixon have been named starters for the 2013 AHL All-Star Game, which will be played on Monday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, R.I.

Starting lineups were determined by AHL fans via the official AHL All-Star Classic Fan Balloting presented by CCM.

Audy-Marchessault leads the Falcons with 44 points and 28 assists and is third in the league in each of those categories. He tops all AHL skaters in January with 16 points (8g-8a). Audy-Marchessault will make his second AHL All-Star Classic appearance, as the Quebec City native also participated in the 2012 festivities as a rookie with the Connecticut Whale.

Erixon paces all Springfield defensemen with 29 points, 24 assists, and five goals. The second-year pro is fourth among AHL defensemen in scoring while checking in third among blueliners in assists. A resident of Skelleftea, Sweden, Erixon will participate in the AHL All-Star Classic for the first time.

Falcons netminder Curtis McElhinney will join Audy-Marchessault and Erixon at the AHL All-Star Classic.

The 2013 Dunkin' Donuts AHL All-Star Classic in Providence will feature the top young talent in the American Hockey League competing a two-day event to be televised nationally in the United States and Canada. Visit TheAHL.com for a list of networks and air times.

Of the 597 players to take part in the AHL All-Star Classic since the event was reinstated in 1995, nearly 93 percent have competed in the National Hockey League, including Patrice Bergeron, Daniel Briere, Dustin Brown, Ryan Callahan, Mike Cammalleri, Zdeno Chara, Miikka Kiprusoff, Ryan Miller, Zach Parise, Tuukka Rask, Pekka Rinne, Bobby Ryan, Martin St. Louis, Cory Schneider, Jason Spezza and Eric Staal.
