Hogs and Barons Tonight, Lang Released

January 26, 2013 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rockford IceHogs News Release

Rockford, Ill.- Up and down. That's been the theme for the Rockford IceHogs in 2012-13, especially lately. Tonight, the IceHogs look to end a three-game losing streak when they take on the Oklahoma City Barons at 7:05 p.m. at the BMO Harris Bank Center.

The first 2,500 fans to the game will pick up a set of retro IceHogs trading cards featuring players from the 2012-13 team, courtesy of the Rockford Register Star. For tickets, call (815) 968-5222, online through IceHogs.com or in person at the BMO Harris Bank Center Box Office or any Ticketmaster outlet location.

Tonight's game can be viewed on 23.2 Antenna TV, Comcast Cable channel-436, Charter Cable channel-970 or Mediacom channel-101. To watch online or for the free audio stream, visit AHLlive.com.

Rockford's three-game losing streak follows a three-game winning streak, which came after a four game losing streak. And you guessed it, the four game cold spell happened after a three-game winning streak.

The streaky hockey dates back to Dec. 22, but the IceHogs have been consistent in this category all season. Through 42 games this season, Rockford has had 10 different three-game winning or losing streaks.

Following tonight's set of games in the AHL, the league will begin its annual All-Star break. Rockford (20-20-1-1) needs a win to stay above .500 before the four day layoff.

Oklahoma City enters tonight's contest struggling as well. The Barons suffered an 8-2 loss last night in Milwaukee and are just 2-6-1-1 over their past 10 games. OKC, however, still boasts the league's top power-play unit as the team has converted 24.0% of their man advantages this season.

Rockford closes out a season-high five-game homestand tonight and is looking to end it against a team in which they have never defeated on home ice. The IceHogs are 0-4-1-0 all-time against the Barons at the BMO and 2-7-1-0 overall against the South Division foe.

Next Home Game: Saturday, Feb. 9 vs. Houston Aeros. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m. The first 2,000 fans to the game will pick up a Colin Fraser Bobblehands figurine courtesy of Gatorade, recognizing the first former IceHogs skater to win two Stanley Cups.
