Idaho Steelheads News Release
Boise, ID (1/17/13) - The Idaho Steelheads, in conjunction with the ECHL, announced Thursday afternoon that rookie forward Austin Fyten has been added to the ECHL All-Star Game roster.
The game, featuring a team of ECHL All Stars taking on the Colorado Eagles, will be played on January 23 in Loveland, CO.
It was also announced that forward Justin Dowling, previously voted as a starter in the All-Star game, will not be attending due to his recall to the American Hockey League. That makes Fyten Idaho's lone representative in the game.
Fyten, 21, leads all active scorers with the Idaho Steelheads with 29 points (nine goals, 20 assists) and is also one of two players (Matt Case) to appear in all 37 games so far for the team. His 29 points rank in the top ten among ECHL rookies and his 20 assists are tied for most among first-year players in the league. His plus-16 rating places him second among all ECHL rookies and first among active ECHL'ers, trailing his former teammate Austin Smith, who is now playing in the American Hockey League.
The Sundre, Alberta, product is in his first professional season after playing major-junior hockey in the Western Hockey League.
Fyten (FIGHT-en) and his Steelheads teammates will be in action Friday and Saturday night at CenturyLink Arena in Boise, hosting the rival Alaska Aces. Game time each night is 7:10 PM.
Group nights are a great way to get family, friends, co-workers and colleagues together in downtown Boise at a discounted price. Groups can also include a Double-R Ranch hot dog, Tim's Cascade Chips, and a small Pepsi. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log onto www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
