Sacramento River Cats News Release

West Sacramento, Calif. - Chris Carter's 3-for-4 night was not enough to lift the River Cats past the Rainiers on Saturday night at Raley Field, as Sacramento fell 11-5.

Sacramento struck first with Carter's solo home run in the bottom of the second inning. However, a late flurry of runs from Tacoma would negate the five runs scored by Cats. Tacoma scored four in the seventh to take a 6-3 lead. The River Cats mustered a rally, scoring twice in the bottom half, bringing the score to within one, but the Rainiers plated five in the eighth, sealing the 11-5 victory.

Carter finished 3-for-4 with two runs, an RBI, a walk and his team-leading 11th home run. Brandon Hicks, Stephen Parker and Adam Rosales all had two hits on the evening. Sacramento starter Bruce Billings gave up two earned runs in five innings of work with four strikeouts. Fautino De Los Santos suffered the loss, relinquishing four runs in 1.1 innings pitched. Danny Farquhar gave up five earned runs in 0.1 innings, increasing his ERA on the year to 16.62. Grant Green snapped his team-season-leading 11-game hitting streak with an 0-for-4 night.

Saturday's three hour, 52 minute game was the longest of the year for the Cats, besting the previous high of three hours, 41 minutes set just two nights before.

The final game of the series is set for Raley Field's Father's Day Celebration on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. Right-handed River Cat Brad Peacock (6-3, 5.09 ERA) will start opposite Tacoma righty Brian Sweeney (2-1, 3.92 ERA).
