Tucson Padres News Release

The Tucson Padres scored five early runs on their way to a 10-4 win over Reno Sunday. The loss snapped a ten game losing streak for the T-Pads and also gave them their first win of the season against Reno in eight tries. Daniel Robertson hit an RBI single in the first inning and Cody Decker hit a sacrifice fly two batters later. With two on base and two outs, while still in the first inning, Anthony Contreras launched a three-run home run to right field to put the Padres ahead, 5-0. Contreras finished the day 4-for-5 with two doubles and his fifth home run of the season.

Tucson starter Bear Bay continued his string of success against Reno. Ten days after throwing six scoreless innings against the Aces, Bay allowed just one earned run in five innings of work Sunday. Bay picked up his first win in the Padres organization, but had to leave in the bottom of the sixth inning with a mild groin strain. The Padres turned a momentum-changing double play in the bottom of the seventh. With Tucson ahead by four, Reno loaded the bases and Taylor Harbin hit a line drive to third base. Anthony Contreras caught the liner and threw to first baseman Matt Clark before the runner Rusty Ryal could get back to the bag.

The Padres knocked 17 hits on Sunday, one shy of a season high for hits in a game. Robertson went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Matt Clark went 4-for-5 in the win. Andy Parrino hit a double and a triple Sunday, going 2-for-5 with an RBI on his third injury rehab assignment game. The Padres do not play Monday.

Next Game: Tuesday, 7:05 pm vs. Las Vegas (Blue Jays affiliate). Las Vegas RHP Andrew Carpenter (4-2, 4.13) vs. Tucson RHP Kip Wells (1-3, 4.01). Free tickets available at your local eegee's location.
