Green Powers Zephyrs to Series Win in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tennessee - Nick Green powered the Zephyrs with two home runs and four runs batted in as visiting New Orleans defeated Memphis 6-1 in front of 8,287 at Autozone Park.

Green drilled a solo shot in the second inning to start the scoring. Luke Montz doubled home Matt Dominguez and the Zephyrs grabbed a 2-0 lead. Memphis answered in the bottom of the second inning with a single from Pete Kozma and an RBI double by Cedric Hunter.

The Zephyrs led 2-1 until the fifth inning when the Zephyrs scored a pair of runs on RBI single from Chris Coghlan and a bases loaded walk to Green.

Z's starter J.D. Martin pitched six strong innings allowed one run on seven hits and improved his record to 4-6. Memphis starter Nick Additon pitched five innings allowed three runs in the defeat.

Green smoked a line drive two run home run in the ninth inning and the Zephyrs defeated Memphis for the third time in five games winning the series.

Game Notes - Mike Cervenak extended his twelve game hit streak with a 2x5 performance. Zephyr starter J.D. Martin was ejected in the seventh inning for an argument over a balk call. The Zephyrs are three games over .500 for the first time since May 18th. The Zephyrs are 3-2 on the trip and have won the season series over Memphis taking nine of the first 12 meetings. The Zephyrs will play Memphis four more games next weekend at home.

Coming Up: The Zephyrs will enjoy Monday as a travel day. New Orleans will open a series at Albuquerque on Tuesday night at 8:05. RADIO: WMTI 106.1 "The Ticket"
