SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The TinCaps surged to an early lead but ran out of steam in a 12-5 loss to the South Bend Silver Hawks, Wednesday at Coveleski Stadium. Jonathan Galvez had two hits including a home run.

In the second, Chris Jarrett roped a bases-loaded double into the right-field corner to chase home all three runners and give the Silver Hawks a 5-3 lead. Bobby Borchering's two-out double made it 6-3. The Silver Hawks scored another run in the third and two more in the fourth before tacking on a pair in the sixth to make it 11-3.
In the seventh, Galvez led off with a smash over the left-field wall.
An inning later, South Bend scored an unearned run to make it 12-4. Edinson Rincon crushed a leadoff home run in the ninth to end the scoring.
