Today's Game: The Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) host the Hot Rods (affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays) in the first game of a three-game set. This is game one of a season-ending six-game home stand for Dayton.

Last Game: Dayton defeated Lansing 12-0 in the most lopsided victory of the season for the Dragons. Mark Fleury went 4 for 5 with two doubles and three RBI, Henry Rodriguez was 3 for 4 with four RBI, and Kevyn Feiner added three hits to help lead the offense. The Dragons went 8 for 19 (.421) with runners in scoring position. On the mound, Ricky Bowen allowed only four men to reach base over seven scoreless innings to earn his third straight victory. Bowen allowed three hits and one walk while striking out three. Lansing committed six errors in the game.
Today's Starting Pitcher: Edinson Volquez, optioned to Dayton yesterday from Cincinnati, will start tonight for the Dragons. Volquez had "Tommy John" surgery on August 3, 2009 and has returned to action this season. He made his first start of the year with Single-A Lynchburg on June 12 and eventually made his first Major League start with the Reds on July 17. Volquez last pitched on August 23 at San Francisco and suffered the loss as a starter (0.2 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 1 SO). Volquez was acquired by the Reds on December 21, 2007 from the Texas Rangers with Daniel Ray Herrera in exchange for outfielder Josh Hamilton. Volquez has a career record in the Major Leagues of 27-21.
Individual Notes
* Henry Rodriguez and Kevyn Feiner have been promoted to Lynchburg. Rodriguez leaves the Dragons with an active 16-game hitting streak, the third longest in franchise history. Should Rodriguez ever play for the Dragons again, his hitting streak will remain alive. He is currently four short of the club record. Over his hitting streak, Rodriguez went 28 for 65, .431.
* Mark Fleury is 13 for 29, .448 over his last seven games, raising his average from .231 to .249.
* Josh Garton is 10 for 28, .357 with five doubles over his last seven games, raising his average from .233 to .245.
* Tommy Nurre is 6 for 14, .429 over his last four games since coming off the disabled list.
* Chase Weems is 12 for 37, .324 over his last 11 games, raising his average from .176 to .219.
Team Notes
* The Dragons have won nine of their last 11 games. They are 11-6 over their last 17 games after going 3-28 from July 9-August 13.
* During this 11-game stretch, the team batting average is .293, the team ERA is 3.90, and the club has committed 11 errors. They have outscored their opponents 75-48, scoring an average of 6.8 runs per game.
