Subban And Desjardins Named To AHL All-Star Teams

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The American Hockey League announced today that Hamilton Bulldogs defenceman P.K. Subban has been named a 2009-2010 AHL First-Team All-Star while goaltender Cedrick Desjardins has been named a 2009-2010 AHL Second-Team All-Star.
Subban, 20, leads all Bulldogs defencemen in points with 52 (18 goals, 34 assists) and leads all AHL rookie defenceman in both goals (18) and points (52). The native of Toronto, Ontario was named to the AHL All-Rookie Team yesterday and ranks first among all league rookies with 11 power-play goals and is second in the AHL with a plus-43 rating. The 5-foot-10, 195-pound blueliner participated in the 2010 AHL All-Star Classic and played in his first two NHL games with the Montreal Canadiens this season on February 12th and 13th recording an assist in each game. Montreal's 2nd round, 43rd overall selection in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft has also set new franchise records for goals (18), power-play goals (11), and points (52) by a Bulldogs defenceman in a single season.
Desjardins, 24, has posted a record of 26-8-3 in 42 appearances for Hamilton and currently leads all AHL netminders in goals-against average (1.93) while ranking fourth in save percentage (.923) and second in shutouts (6). The Rebook/AHL Goaltender of the Month for December and the winning goaltender of the 2010 AHL All-Star Game, Desjardins reeled off nine straight victories from Nov. 28 to December 31, a stretch that included four shutouts in a five-game span which. The 6-foot, 194-pound goaltender set a new franchise record for longest shutout streak by a Bulldogs goaltender after not allowing a goal in 212 minutes and 37 seconds. The native of Edmundston, New Brunswick, Desjardins has helped Hamilton surrender a league-low 165 goals through 74 games.
Subban is the Bulldogs' third player to be named a AHL First-Team All-Star in the franchise's 14 year history. Left wing Jason Chimera was named to the team in 2001-2002 and right wing Jason Ward was named to the team in 2002-2003.
Desjardins is Hamilton's sixth player and second goaltender to be named a AHL Second-Team All-Star. Defenceman Marc-Andre Bergeron was named to the team in 2002-2003, left wing Ralph Intranuovo was named to the team in 1996-1997, right wing Daniel Cleary was named to the team in 1999-2000, centre Brian Swanson was named to the team in 2001-2002 and goaltender Steve Passmore was named to the team in 1998-1999.
The 2009-2010 AHL First-Team All-Stars also include Manchester Monarchs goaltender Jonathan Bernier, Worcester Sharks defenceman Danny Groulx, Hershey Bears left wing Alexandre Giroux and centre Keith Aucoin and Albany River Rats right wing Jerome Samson.
The 2009-2010 AHL Second-Team All-Stars also include Houston Aeros defenceman Maxim Noreau, Rochester Americans defenceman Clay Wilson, Springfield Falcons left wing Charles Linglet, Hartford Wolf Pack Corey Locke and Hershey Bears right wing Andrew Gordon.
Each All-Star Team member will receive a custom designed crystal award in recognition of his selection to the 2009-2010 AHL First and Second All-Star Teams.
