Dallas Assigns Fabian Brunnstrom And Maxime Fortunus To Texas

Cedar Park, TX - The Dallas Stars announced Wednesday that the club has assigned left wing Fabian Brunnstrom to the Texas Stars, Dallas' primary affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL), for a conditioning assignment. He is scheduled to rejoin the Dallas Stars in Montreal when they face the Canadiens on Jan. 14. Defenseman Maxime Fortunus has also been reassigned to Texas.
Brunnstrom, 24, has skated in 23 games for Dallas this season, collecting one goal and six assists. The 6-2, 212-pound left wing played in 55 games for the Stars in his first NHL season in 2008-09, recording 29 points (17g, 12a). The Jonstorp, Sweden native skated for Farjestads BK of the Swedish Elite League in 2007-08, notching nine goals and 28 assists in 54 games. He was signed as a free agent by Dallas on May 8, 2008.
Fortunus, 26, has skated in five games for Dallas, going scoreless with two penalty minutes. He was recalled from Texas on Dec. 18. Fortunus signed as a free agent with Dallas on July 3, 2008. He has appeared in 30 games for Texas, scoring five goals and four assists for nine points and 12 penalty minutes. The veteran defenseman is expected to play in Manitoba on Thursday, Dec. 31. Fortunus returns to Winnipeg, MB, where he played four seasons Moose.
The Stars travel to Manitoba for two road games. The first game is on Thursday, Dec. 31 at 4:00 PM followed by the second game on Saturday, Jan. 2 at 7:30 PM. Texas returns to the Cedar Park Center on Wednesday, Jan. 6 for a game against the Houston Aeros at 7:30 PM. On Tuesday, the first 2,000 fans will receive a Texas Stars rally towel. The Stars travel to Abbotsford, BC for back-to-back road games on Friday, Jan. 8 and Saturday, Jan. 9.
