Peoria Chiefs News Release

PEORIA, IL- The Peoria Chiefs in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs have announced that infielder/outfielder and Midwest League All-Star Josh Harrison has been promoted to Class-A Advanced Daytona. Harrison leaves the club just two days after becoming the 105th player in Chiefs history to reach the 100-hit plateau in a single season. As a corresponding roster move, the Chiefs will welcome back corner infielder Jovan Rosa to Peoria. Harrison, who has spent most of his time split between left field as well as second and third base, was third in the Midwest League with a .337 average upon his departure. A sixth round draft pick in 2008 out of the University of Cincinnati, he recorded four homers and 33 RBIs in 79 games for the Chiefs. Celebrating his 22nd birthday on Wednesday, Harrison led the team in several categories including average, hits (102), triples (7), runs (51) and stolen bases (16). He joins recently promoted Chiefs infielder Josh Vitters and pitcher Chris Carpenter in Daytona.

Rosa spent all of 2009 in Daytona after spending last season in a Chiefs uniform. This year in the Florida State League, he hit .223 with two homers and 33 RBIs. Last season in 128 games with Peoria, the 2006 22nd round draft selection was one of the toughest outs in the Chiefs lineups. He hit a solid .293, clubbing seven homers and driving in 81 runs en route to being named a 2008 Midwest League All-Star. He also had one of the Chiefs most memorable hits of 2008, a walk-off grand slam on June 30.

The Chiefs welcome in the Great Lakes Loons, the Midwest League affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, for three games starting Wednesday night at 7:00 PM. LH Jeff Beliveau (3-2, 3.10) will take the mound for the Chiefs opposed by Loons RH Justin Miller (3-5, 4.69). Free hot dogs and peanuts will be served to all fans through the seventh inning.
