LOWELL, Mass. - Michael Swift recorded his first multi-goal game of the season and Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond scored the game-winner as the Lowell Devils rallied to defeat the Providence Bruins, 3-2, on Wednesday at the Tsongas Arena. It was the eighth win in ten games for Lowell and five straight on home ice.
Trailing, 2-1, early in the third period, Swift's second goal of the night tied the match at 5:53. Nicklas Bergfors controlled the puck deep in the Providence zone and fed Swift in front of the net with a tape-to-tape pass. The rookie forward placed a perfect wrist shot past the glove of Tuukka Rask and into the top corner for his seventh goal of the season.
Over two minutes later the Devils would take the lead for good after the forecheck of Patrick Davis caused a turnover along the boards in the Bruin's end. Mark Fraser worked the puck up top for Matt Corrente, who one-timed a shot that Letourneau-Leblond deflected into the back of the net.
Already with nine points in his last six games, Swift broke a scoreless tie at 1:35 of the second when he had Jon DiSalvotore's wrist shot from the near wall bank off of his stick and inside the far post.
The Bruins' lone power play knotted the game at one with 5:06 left until the second intermission. Andrew Bodnarchuk's bid from the point was blocked in front, but careened directly to Adam McQuiad to throw into the open net.
Jeremy Reich gave Providence its first lead of the contest only 32 seconds into third as he beat Jeff Frazee with a wrister from the far dot.
Frazee otherwise made 29 saves on 31 shots for his fifth win in a row and the eighth win in his last nine.
