
Yankees' Pavano to Join Thunder for Rehab Apperance

(Trenton, NJ)- The Trenton Thunder, the Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced today that New York Yankees RHP Carl Pavano will make a rehabilitation start with the Thunder courtesy of St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, August 7th as Trenton hosts the Akron Aeros, the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. Game time is set for 7:05 PM.

Thursday's game is Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey Night at Waterfront Park. There will be a health fair on the stadium concourse as well as a fireworks show following the game. The gates to Waterfront Park will open at 5:30 PM for season ticket holders and 6:00 PM for the general public.
Pavano was a member of the 1996 Thunder team and earned Eastern League Pitcher of the Year honors that year. He is a member of the Thunder All 15 Year Team as voted by the fans prior to the 2008 season.
This season, Pavano has made two rehabilitation starts for Charleston (Low-A), and had an 0-0 record with a 1.80 ERA in five total innings. He only made two starts for the Yankees in 2007, and went 1-0 with a 4.76 ERA (11 1/3 total innings). Pavano made three rehabilitation starts for the Thunder during 2006, and was 1-0 with a 1.64 ERA in 11 total innings. He won a World Series with the Florida Marlins in 2004, and went 18-8 with a 3.00 ERA in 31 starts for Florida during the regular season. He entered 2008 with a Major League record of 62-64 in 186 G (168 starts).
Pavano first appeared for Trenton when the team was the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. He appeared in 27 games (26 starts) for the Thunder during 1996, and had a 16-5 record with a 2.63 ERA. Pavano's 16 wins is the most by a Thunder pitcher in any one season. He was originally selected by Boston in the 13th round of the 1994 draft.
