
Sens lose opener to Rock Cats

Harrisburg, PA - The Harrisburg Senators couldn't come up with the big hit in a 4-2 loss to the New Britain Rock Cats, Tuesday at Commerce Bank Park. Edgardo Baez hit his first career Double-A home run in the loss as Harrisburg went 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
In the top of the 4th, Brock Peterson blasted a solo homer to left to make it 1-0 New Britain. Two batters later, Danny Valencia hit a two-out double and Erik Lis followed with an RBI single to extend it to a 2-0 margin.
The Senators cut the deficit in half when Baez clubbed a solo shot to left-center, to make it a 2-1 game.
In the 6th, Luis Jimenez doubled to the gap in left-center to plate Baez and tie the game at 2-2.
New Britain took the lead back in the top of the 8th. RHP Beltran Perez walked Valencia with two out and Lis came up with an RBI double down the right-field line to give the Rock Cats a 3-2 advantage.
The Rock Cats tacked on an insurance run in the top of the 9th. With two out, Luke Hughes hit a fly ball to center that was lost in the lights for a double. After a walk, Peterson blooped a single into center to plate Hughes and make it 4-2.
Perez took the loss for the Senators, falling to 3-4. RHP Robert Delaney notched the win in his first decision of the season. LHP Ben Julianel snagged his 17th save of the year with two scoreless innings
The Senators dropped to 49-40. The Rock Cats improved to 37-52.
The Senators and Rock Cats continue their three-game series Wednesday at Commerce Bank Park. RHP Jordan Zimmermann (3-2, 4.12 ERA) starts for Harrisburg against New Britain RHP Jeff Manship (1-2, 3.91 ERA).
