July 31, 2007 - Eastern League (EL1)
New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - The Rock Cats broke out the bats for 11 hits and starter Jesse Floyd turned in his finest performance of the month to top visiting Erie, 6-2.

The Rock Cats jumped out to an early lead in the first inning. Rashad Eldridge opened the inning with a walk and Trevor Plouffe followed with a single. Garrett Guzman reached on an infield single when no one covered first base on a ball fielded by pitcher Dallas Trahern. With the bases loaded and no outs, Matt Moses delivered a single to right field that scored Eldridge. Plouffe attempted to score, but was tagged out on a close play at the plate. David Winfree then grounded into a double play, but Guzman scored for a 2-0 lead before the second out was recorded.

Eldridge hit a three-run homer in the second inning that put the Rock Cats ahead, 5-1. Plouffe led the Rock Cats with three hits, including an RBI single in the fourth.

Floyd (5-9) scattered six hits for two runs through six innings. He struck out seven. Danny Powers tossed three scoreless innings in relief to pick up his first save.

Trahern (10-6) allowed six runs (5 ER) on nine hits through six innings.
