Zizka Recalled By The Kings

EL SEGUNDO, CA - The Los Angeles Kings have recalled defenseman Tomas Zizka from the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, Kings Senior Vice President/General Manager Dave Taylor announced today. Zizka, who turns 24 today, made his NHL debut last season with the Kings, playing in 10 games last season recording three assists (0-3=3) and four penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 206-pound native of Sternberk, Czech Republic, also appeared in 61 games for the Monarchs last season and led all Manchester defensemen in scoring with 43 points (13-30=43) and 50 penalty minutes. His +15 plus/minus rating led the club.

He was selected by the Kings in the sixth-round (163rd overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft and wears jersey No. 5.

The Kings continue their three-game road trip tonight in Pittsburgh versus the Penguins at 4:30 p.m. (PT). The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports Net, ESPN Radio 710 - KSPN and along the Kings Radio Network.

The Monarchs start the season with a three-game homestand beginning tonight at 7:35 p.m. against the Worcester IceCats.

Tonight's game will be broadcast live throughout the Granite State on WMUR-TV, with Charlie Sherman serving as the play-by-play host, Hall of Famer Brad Park serving as the color analyst and Jason King providing locker room interviews.

The Monarchs will also host the Lowell Lock Monsters on Saturday, October 11 at 7:35 p.m. and the Portland Pirates on Wednesday, October 15 at 7:05 p.m.
