Anders Eriksson Inks Contract With Columbus

Syracuse, NY (October 10, 2003) – The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have signed defenseman Anders Eriksson to a NHL contract and assigned him to Syracuse.

Eriksson, 28, appeared in 72 games with St. John's last season, recording 5 goals, 34 assists and 133 penalty minutes. The Bollnas, Sweden native also appeared in four games with Toronto, without recording a point. Originally Detroit's first choice, 22nd overall, in the 1993 Entry Draft, Eriksson has appeared in 346 NHL games with Detroit, Chicago, Florida and Toronto, tallying 14 goals, 89 assists and 140 penalty minutes.

Eriksson is the 13th first-round draft pick to appear with the Crunch. He was member of the 1997-98 Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings.

The Crunch's home schedule begins on Saturday, October 11, when the Hershey Bears visit the War Memorial at Oncenter for the Express Mart Opening Night, followed by the Labatt post-game concert featuring The Jets, presented by Syracuse New Times, TK99 and Sunny 102.
