Memphis Redbirds News Release
Jacksonville, FL - For the second straight night, a late comeback earned the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp a one-run victory over the Memphis Redbirds. This time, it was a 3-2 win for Jacksonville who has taken the first four games of this week's series.
After Connor Thomas struck out 11 in 6.1 innings last night, T.J. Zeuch provided the Redbirds with another tremendous start, tossing six-scoreless frames and allowing just two hits while striking out six. It was the fourth straight start where Zeuch has lasted at least six innings.
Top prospect Max Meyer started for Jacksonville and was electric in his Triple-A debut, striking out ten in five innings. The 'Birds did get a run against Meyer in the fifth on a solo home run from Nick Plummer. Plummer also had a single and a walk in the game.
The Redbirds held that 1-0 lead until the top of the seventh, when Justin Williams homered for the second straight night. In his last five at bats, Williams has two home runs, two doubles and five RBI.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Jumbo Shrimp got on the board on an RBI double from Deven Marrero. Jacksonville then went ahead for good in the eighth when Dustin Fowler hit a two-run home run. Andrew Bellatti pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his second save of the series.
