Zephyrs finish off sweep of 'Birds

Memphis, Tenn. - New Orleans finished off a four-game sweep of Memphis and sent the Redbirds to their fifth straight loss with a 3-2 Zephyrs win Monday night at AutoZone Park.

Jesus Feliciano broke open a 2-2 game in the seventh inning with a RBI-single to score Mike Nickeas and put the Zephyrs on top. The New Orleans bullpen took it from there allowing two base runners the last three innings. Feliciano and Nickeas each drove in a run along with Abraham Nunez to lead the Z's.

Memphis tied the game in the fifth inning with two runs. Brian Barton drove in the first run with triple to right field and scored on Jon Jay's single to right. Jay and Nick Stavinoha each had two hits to lead the 'Birds.

Adam Wainwright pitched three innings for Memphis in his second rehab outing. The right-hander gave up two runs on four hits with one walk and two strikeouts. He threw 48 pitches, 29 for strikes. Clayton Mortensen took the loss for the 'Birds giving up one run on two hits over 3.1 innings of relief work. New Orleans starter Robert Parnell earned the win in his first start for the Zephyrs. Parnell gave up two runs on five hits across six innings. Nate Field recorded his third save of the series and 13th of the year with a perfect ninth inning.

The 'Birds welcome Round Rock to town tomorrow night. Blake Hawksworth is scheduled to start for Memphis against Express right-hander Jack Cassel. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
