Memphis ends five-game slide, Hawksworth earns win

Memphis, Tenn. - Memphis' five-game losing streak came to an end Tuesday night with a 7-4 victory over Round Rock at AutoZone Park.

Blake Hawksworth ended the Redbirds losing streak and his personal losing streak at home. In two seasons as a Redbird Hawksworth was 0-9 in 17 games at AutoZone Park before earning the victory with five solid innings Tuesday. The right-hander gave up two runs on seven hits for his third victory of the year.

The ‘Birds offense scored their most runs since an August 5 win at Sacramento. Nick Stavinoha went 3-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored. Jarrett Hoffpauir also chipped in three hits and two RBI. Stavinoha added a two-run homer in the eighth.

Val Majewski led the Express with three hits and J.R. House drove in two runs with his 17th homer in the ninth inning. Jack Cassel took the loss for Round Rock allowing four runs on 10 hits over five innings with seven strikeouts.

Memphis and Round Rock play tomorrow night with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Former Arkansas Razorback Jess Todd will make his Triple-A debut against Express right-hander Runelvys Hernandez.
