New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release

Metairie, LA - New Orleans Zephyrs pitchers Adam Conley and Nick Wittgren have been named to the 2015 Pacific Coast League All-Star team.

The duo will participate in the Triple-A All-Star Game, pitting PCL All-Stars against International League All-Stars, on Wednesday, July 15 at Werner Park in Omaha. The 28th annual matchup will be broadcast live on MLB Network at 7:00 p.m. Central Time.

In 15 games (14 starts) for New Orleans this season, Conley has posted a 7-2 record and 2.52 ERA. The left-hander is tied for second in the PCL in victories, ranks fourth in ERA, and opponents have batted .231 against him, the seventh-best mark in the league. Over his last eight outings since May 19, Conley owns a league-leading 1.66 ERA, a span during which he also made his Major League debut with a scoreless inning of relief for the Miami Marlins in Toronto on June 10.

Conley becomes the third Zephyr to be named the PCL's starting pitcher in the All-Star Game and the second in as many years, joining Willie Collazo in 2009 and Elih Villanueva last season. A second-round selection by the Marlins in the 2011 draft, Conley previously earned South Atlantic League All-Star recognition in 2012 with Greensboro, and was a Southern League All-Star the following year with Jacksonville.

Wittgren became the Zephyrs' closer upon making his Triple-A debut on April 15, and has since recorded nine saves, tied for fifth-most in the league during that span. Wittgren successfully converted each of his first eight save opportunities, and ranks second among all PCL relievers in fewest baserunners per nine innings pitched, having surrendered 30 in 32 innings.

Wittgren is earning All-Star honors for the fourth time in as many professional seasons after becoming a ninth-round selection of the Marlins in the 2012 draft. He entered 2015 as one of only four minor league pitchers to have earned 20 saves in each of the previous two seasons.

The Zephyrs return home on Saturday at 6 p.m. against the Iowa Cubs with the annual 4th of July celebration. The first 6,000 fans will receive a mini-American flag, and the festivities include Independence Day fireworks and a postgame concert.
