Zapolski Leads Stingrays Past Road Warriors

North Charleston, S.C. - Goaltender Ryan Zapolski tied an ECHL all-time single-season record with his eighth shutout making 22 saves to help the South Carolina Stingrays (33-24-4-3) topple the Greenville Road Warriors (32-24-2-4) 3-0 on Faith and Fun Night at the North Charleston Coliseum Saturday evening. The win pushes the Stingrays' home point streak to a season-high 12 games (10-0-2-0).

The Stingrays kicked off the scoring on the power play at 7:05 of the first period with a blast from defenseman Kevin Quick at the right-wing point. Defenseman Luka Vidmar and forward Robby Dee assisted on Quick's second goal off the season.

Forward Alex MacLeod made it a 2-0 Stingrays lead tapping a loose puck under the pads of Road Warriors goaltender Scott Stajcer (L, 21 saves on 23 shots) with 4:57 left in the second period. Forward Peter Boyd picked up his first point as a Stingray with the primary assist and defenseman Cam Brodie added his 10 assist of the season.

In the third period, forward Patrick Gaul sealed the victory with an empty-net unassisted power-play goal with seven seconds to play. The Stingrays ended the night 2-for-7 on the man advantage while the Road Warriors went 0-for-6.
