Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Stockton, Calif. - After a back-and-forth battle, the Las Vegas Wranglers fell 4-3 to the Stockton Thunder tonight after overcoming an early two-goal deficit.
Only 1:48 into the game, Stockton jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead off the stick of right wing Maxime Boisclair. The advantage doubled up three minutes later on a power play goal from left wing Garet Hunt, and the Wranglers faced a 2-0 hole with 15 minutes left in the first. In the final opening minutes, Wranglers left wing Robbie Smith put the team on the board to cut Stockton's lead in half at the end of the period.
Midway through the second, Wranglers center Judd Blackwater tied the game 2-2 with his 16th goal of the season. Less than three minutes later, Thunder defenseman Mike Little regained the one-goal lead for his team on a power play, and a literal last-minute goal from Thunder defenseman Brandon Davidson left Stockton up 4-2 after 40 minutes. Wranglers right wing Sean Wiles narrowed the game with a Vegas power play goal in the final six minutes, but the 4-3 score went final in favor of the Thunder.
The two teams rematch tomorrow night before Las Vegas continues its road stretch against the San Francisco Bulls on Sunday. The Wranglers return home to play the Bakersfield Condors on Tuesday, March 19, at 7:05 p.m.
