San Francisco Bulls News Release
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The San Francisco Bulls (21-34-1-6) were defeated, 6-2, by the Alaska Aces (46-12-2-4), Saturday night at the Cow Palace. Kory Falite scored his first goal for the Bulls. The Bulls' magic number was still reduced to 11 points, following the Bakersfield Condors' regulation loss to the Ontario Reign.
The Aces took an early 1-0 lead when Nick Mazzolini pushed the puck past Nelson for his 34th goal of the season at 6:37 into the first. Mazzolini's goal was assisted by Garry Nunn. The Bulls answered in a hurry when Peter Sivak tapped in a rebound for his 28th goal of the season at 7:58, assisted by Nick Walsh and Rob Kwiet. The tension of the three-game series being felt, things on the ice got a bit physical. San Francisco spent eight minutes in the penalty box in the first period, and the Aces capitalized on one of their power plays. With five seconds left in the period, Sean Curry scored his seventh goal of the season, assisted by BJ Crum. At the end of the first, shots favored the Aces 15-6.
Kory Falite got the Bulls on the board early in the second period, tying the game 2-2 with his first goal in a San Francisco jersey, and his 12th of the season. Falite's goal was assisted by Dylan King, 4:15 into the second period. The Aces responded with three unanswered goals. Alex Hudson, Tommy Mele, and Evan Trupp all scored for the Aces in the second period. After 40 minutes, the Aces led the Bulls 5-2, with the shots favoring Alaska 25-17.
Nunn extended the Aces lead with 9:42 left in the third period, putting the Aces up 6-2. The Bulls were unable to solve Mark Guggenberger, and were held scoreless in the third.
The Bulls take on the Las Vegas Wranglers tomorrow afternoon at 2:15pm for the final time this season. Call 855-SF-BULLS for tickets.
