Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
North Charleston, SC: The Road Warriors lost four straight for the first time in team history with a 3-0 loss against the South Carolina Stingrays.
The Stingrays took a 1-0 lead on the power play 7:05 into the first period. Kevin Quick fired a shot from the point that eased past heavy traffic for his second of the year. Luka Vidmar and Robby Dee collected assists on the goal.
The second period stayed tight as more special teams opportunities came and went. Neither team was able to convert on the power play in the period but South Carolina found the net while playing even strength. Alex MacLeod jammed in a loose puck for his third of the year to put the Stingrays up 2-0.
The Road Warriors were only able to muster up four shots in the third period which wasn't enough to solve Ryan Zapolski. Patrick Gaul scored the third goal on a neutral zone face-off win that slid into the empty net. The goal was on the man advantage and secured the 3-0 win for the Stingrays. Zapolski collected his eighth shutout of the year tying an ECHL record for most shutouts in a single season. Stajcer took the loss with 21 saves.
Greenville closes out the weekend series tomorrow in the North Charleston Coliseum at 3:05 p.m. The game can be viewed via America One or by clicking the listen live link on the Road Warriors' homepage.
