Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The Gwinnett Gladiators (37-25-2-1) used two power play goals and 40 saves from Louis Domingue to knock off the Idaho Steelheads (39-17-1-6) 2-0 on Saturday night at the CentruryLink Arena in Boise, ID.
Sacha Guimond scored the first of two power play goals for the Gladiators. Guimond ripped a snapshot from the left wing point past Idaho's Tyler Beskorowany to break a scoreless tie 3:18 into the third period. Casey Pierro-Zabotel added an assist on the goal just five seconds into the power play.
Evan Bloodoff notched his 20th goal of the season for Gwinnett for the second power play goal of the game. Bloodoff took a pass in the slot from Joey Haddad before he buried the puck past Beskorowany for the marker. The assist was Haddad's second helper of the game.
Domingue made a handful of spectacular saves through the first two periods to keep the game scoreless and then buckled down over the final 20 minutes for his third shutout of the season. Domingue finished with a period-high 16 saves in the second period for Gwinnett.
Gwinnett returns to home ice as they host the Orlando Solar Bears on Thursday, March 14th at the Arena at Gwinnett Center at 7:05 p.m.
