Yellow Horn to Replace Graham in All-Star Game; Strathman to Start
January 5, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Allen Americans News Release
ALLEN, Texas - The Allen Americans announced today that forward Colton Yellow Horn will replace Bruce Graham in the CHL All-Star team lineup. Graham will remain in Allen for the birth of his first child while Yellow Horn accompanies defenseman David Strathman and Coach Dwight Mullins to Rapid City for the Jan. 12 game.
Yellow Horn has amassed 32 points (17+1532) in 30 games so far this season and leads the team in shots. The Brocket, Alberta native, is a fan favorite and has been with the team since its inaugural season in 2009. This is Yellow Horn's first professional All-Star game.
"It's a great honor that the league saw I've had a pretty good start to the year and has given me credit for it," Yellow Horn said. "I have been working hard the last couple of years and this is a great confidence boost."
David Strathman will join Yellow Horn in Rapid City as part of the lineup. The defenseman's 21 points remains the highest among rookies this season, and his eight goals and 13 assists have helped the Americans remain on top of CHL standings. Due to an injury to Rio Grande Valley's Darcy Campbell, Strathman will now get the starting nod in the game.
Both players say they look forward to representing the Americans and getting their first All-Star experience. "This is a great opportunity to meet guys around the league, make good connections and even make friends that could last a lifetime," Yellow Horn said.
This All-Star game features the defending champion Rapid City Rush against a lineup of stars from around the league. The Americans are on the road this week for back-to-back games against the Colorado Eagles and Rapid City Rush. The team is looking to leave for the All-Star break still on top of the league.
"We have to take care of business first and win these games," Yellow Horn said. "Then I'll be ready to go."
