
Sides Wins December's Oakley Three Stars Award

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. ¬" The Arizona Sundogs, in conjunction with the Central Hockey League, announced today that all-star forward Joey Sides has won the league's Oakley Three Stars Award for the month of December, 2010.
Sides was named a star in eight of the Sundogs' 13 contests, including three first star selections in three of the month's first five games, earning 22 total points.
Players are awarded five points when recognized as a game's first star, three points for a second star nod and a single point for being named the third star of the game.
Missouri's Robby Nolan ranked second overall in December with 21 points while Rapid City's Ryan Menei finished third with 18 points.
Named to the 2011 CHL All-Star Team earlier in the month, Sides closed-out December with 20 points (10g/10a) and a plus-7 rating in 13 contests, being held without a point just three times. The Sun Valley, Idaho, native also collected two shorthanded goals and two shorthanded assists during the month.
Tallying just two goals and seven points in his first 16 games, Sides currently ranks tied for second on the team in scoring with 27 points (12g/15a) in 29 games. The second-year forward is tied for the league lead in shorthanded points (6), shorthanded goals (3) and shorthanded assists (3).
In Oakley Three Stars season standings, Bossier-Shreveport's David Rutherford leads with 34 points followed by Allen's Judd Blackwater with 33 points. Sides ranks 11th overall with 25 points on the year.
