Portland, ME - Yard Goats left Fielder Willie Abreu smashed a grand slam home run to highlight a seven-run fifth inning, as Hartford defeated the Portland Sea Dogs 10-2 on Friday night at Hadlock Field, in Portland, Maine. Hartford starter Garrett Schilling pitched six quality innings, allowing just two runs on five hits with four strikeouts to earn his first Double-A win. Abreu, one of five players with multiple hits, also had a double, and helped lead the Yard Goats to a season-high for hits (13) and runs. Hartford relievers Regan Todd, Julian Fernandez and Yoan Aybar permitted just one hit over the final three frames. The Yard Goats return home to Dunkin' Donuts Park on Tuesday, June 1st to host the Bowie Baysox.

However, Portland responded in the bottom half of the inning as Johan Mieses belted a two-run homer into the right field bleachers off Hartford starter Garrett Schilling, giving the Red Sox affiliate a 2-1 lead.
Hartford tied the game with a two out rally in the fourth. Taylor Snyder cracked a double to centerfield and Max George singled him home tying things at 2-2. Meanwhile, Schilling surrendered just four singles over his next five scoreless innings.
The Yard Goats put together their most productive inning of the season by scoring seven runs in the fifth.
