
Yard Goats Hosted Independence Day Naturalization Ceremony at Dunkin' Donuts Park

Hartford, Conn- The Hartford Yard Goats Baseball Club, the Double-A Eastern League Affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, and the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services hosted the second ever Independence Day Naturalization Ceremony at Dunkin' Donuts Park today prior to the Yard Goats game against the Bowie Baysox. 60 Connecticut residents took the oath to become United States Citizens in a ceremony which took place on the playing field. United States Senator Richard Blumenthal, Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz, and Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin were part of the ceremony. U.S. Magistrate Judge Sarah A.L. Merriam administered the Oath of Allegiance.
The 60 citizenship candidates originate from the following 31 countries: Albania, Bangladesh,
Belgium, Bosnia Herzegovina, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Congo Kinshasa, Dominican
Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Ghana, Guyana, Honduras, India, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Jamaica,
Kenya, Montenegro, Morocco, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey,
Ukraine and United Kingdom.
"We are honored to once again be a part of such a patriotic and moving Naturalization Ceremony today at Dunkin' Donuts Park," said Yard Goats President Tim Restall. "Baseball is America's National Pastime and what a better way to welcome in 60 new US Citizens than at a Yard Goats home game in Hartford. Having the opportunity to host this event as we celebrate America's birthday with the Yard Goats today is particularly special for our team."
The Hartford Yard Goats wrap up their homestand tonight and return to Dunkin' Donuts Park on July 11th (7:05 PM) and host the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Toronto Blue Jays affiliate).
