
Yard Goats Blast Three Homers & Sink Sea Dogs

Portland, ME- The Hartford Yard Goats opened up their six-game road trip with an 8-5 win against the Portland Sea Dogs at Hadlock Field, in Portland, Maine. The Yard Goats smashed three home runs and got a solid start by Frank Duncan who pitched into the sixth inning, as Hartford ended a season-high six-game losing streak. Sean Bouchard highlighted a five run first inning with a three-run homer as the Yard Goats knocked Portland starter Enmanual De Jesus from the game. Hartford hit back-to-back homers for the second time this season as Max George and Manny Melendez connected in the eighth inning. The victory was the fourth straight against the Red Sox affiliate. The Yard Goats return home to Dunkin' Donuts Park on Tuesday, June 1st to host the Bowie Baysox.
The Yard Goats scored five runs in the first inning and knocked Sea Dogs starter Enmanual De Jesus from the game after 32 pitches. Matt McLaughlin extended his hitting streak to five games with a leadoff single. Jameson Hannah reached on a fielder's choice as McLaughlin was erased. Next, Elehuris Montero walked and then Sean Bouchard belted a three run over the centerfield fence to give the Yard Goats a 3-0 lead. Coco Montes followed with a double and was driven in later that inning on an RBI double by Taylor Snyder, making it 4-0. Max George capped the rally with a line drive single, scoring Snyder and giving Hartford a 5-0 lead.
The Sea Dogs got a run off Hartford starter Frank Duncan in the second inning as Roldani Baldwin and Ryan Fitzgerald had consecutive doubles to make it a 5-1 game. Duncan settled down and retired the next three batters and allowed only one other hit over the next three innings. The right-hander pitched into the sixth inning and recorded his first win of the season.
The Yard Goats added a run in the fifth inning off reliever Rio Gomez as Sean Bouchard led off with a double and eventually scored on a grounder by Taylor Snyder to make it 6-1. Portland battled and tried to get back in the game with a pair of runs in the seventh and a run in the eighth. Hartford led 8-4 going to the ninth inning when Johan Mieses hit a solo home run to bring the Sea Dogs within three. However, Yoan Aybar retired two of the next three men as the Yard Goats held on for the win.
The Yard Goats continue their six-game road trip in Portland, Maine on Wednesday night (6:00 PM) against the Red Sox affiliate at Hadlock Field. RHP Matt Dennis will start for the Yard Goats and RHP Kutter Crawford will pitch for the Sea Dogs. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and FM 100.9 FM and newsradio1410.iheart.com.
