Staten Island would take their first lead of the series when Mike Ford scored the go-ahead run on a fielder's choice by Jose Rosario in the second inning to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead off of Cutters starter Mitch Gueller.
The Yankees added on to their lead in the 4th inning. Trent Garrison doubled home Bubba Jones to make it 2-0. Jose Rosario would single in Garrison to make it 3-0. It was Rosario's 2nd RBI of the night.
David Palladino worked five scoreless innings for the Yankees. Palladino would strike out five Cutters while walking one and allowing just three hits in picking up the win.
Crossutters relievers Chris Nichols and Tyler Buckley combined for four innings of scoreless baseball, allowing two hits and striking out four Yankees.
