AHL Peoria Rivermen

Yablonski Called Up by AHL Cincinnati

January 17, 2003 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Peoria Rivermen News Release

For the second consecutive weekend, the Peoria Rivermen will battle an opponent without the services of fan-favorite and enforcer Jeremy Yablonski. Yesterday, the American Hockey League's Cincinnati Mighty Ducks called up the heavyweight for the second time in two weeks. Rivermen Head Coach Jason Christie continues to be happy for his rookie forward. "We like to see players come out of no where, shine at this level, and get called up," said the Coach. "Yaber is as tough as they come; Cincy's lucky to get him." Christie expects Yaber to play with Cincy for the next week or so since the Ducks have six games in nine nights.

As for tonight's game(Jan. 17) between the Rivermen and Johnstown Chiefs, it marks the seventh meeting between the teams, with Peoria owning a 4-1-1 mark in those games. The Rivermen have won 9 of their last 10 games and are currently on a 6-game home winning streak, the longest current streak in the ECHL. On the flip side, the Chiefs are 0-2-2 in their last four games, losing most recently to Toledo 5-2 on Wednesday night. Peoria better keep an eye out for former Rivermen JF Boutin. He leads Johnstown in total points with 40 (13 goals & 27 assists).

Spiderman will make an appearance at tonight's 7pm game. He will sign autographs from 6-9pm inside Carver Arena. First 2000 fans in the door receive a free movie rental from FAMILY VIDEO.
